Jon Stewart recently ran a bit on The Daily Show criticizing the American Atheist lawsuit against the World Trade Center Cross. Many feel that the segment was one sided and ignored the valid reasons behind the lawsuit.

Having Silverman on an episode would be a service to viewers who would get a fuller understanding of the issue and why so many find it to be so important.

Wow Jon, I love your work - and appreciate it deeply! But I felt kinda blindsided by the Atheist piece. Any point of view sounds somewhat "dick-like" when pronounced with a sneer. Or in quotes.... like "poor"... but what Silverman said about a deity not bothering to stop the massacre, but taking the time to stick 2 intersecting pieces of metal amongst the rubble was a very genuine sentiment. It really points out how silly religion and miracles ... I mean "miracles" ... are. Actual divine intervention would have prevented both the bloodshed and the irrational beliefs that brought it about.

Thank you again for (generally) standing up for reason!

jon, i love your show, but i really do think you need to let american atheists tell the whole story (hopefully they can in an intelligent manner). as the most hated minority in america, we deserve our story to be told truthfully and completely. mostly things about religion have been in line with what we atheists believe, and most of us feel you are a voice of reason, but we think you slipped in this case.

I watch the daily show all the time. have been for about 10 years. I am an atheist and i understand this law suit. I saw the episode in question and it seemed the skit was meant to be taken in jest but why not have a follow up?
