End the unfair rules disallowing 3rd parties from the Presidential Debates

This petition was created in order to eliminate the unfair requirements where a Presidential candidate must have a mathematical chance of securing an Electoral College majority in an election and the requirement that the candidate receive 15 percent of the national electorate to participate in the United States Presidential Debates. Republican and Democratic Presidential Candidates become household words because obscene amounts of money funded by Super PACS, millionaires and anonymous corporations pay for the lion's share of their advertising. Since third party candidates like the Libertarian Party’s Gary Johnson, the Green Party’s Jill Stein, the Constitution Party’s Virgil Goode and the Justice Party’s Rocky Anderson don't have the monetary resources to buy this overwhelming amount of advertising, then as long as these rules are in effect these candidates will never have a chance to be heard alongside Democrat and Republican candidates. By signing this petition we hope to bring this injustice to the forefront and begin a dialogue where the rules can be adjusted to accommodate viable third party Presidential Candidates.

I just realized this petition had been closed for some unknown reason. As we draw closer to 2016 and the mainstream media hasn't given this issue any coverage it's of even greater importance to give 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc party candidates their chance to speak out. Let's roll people!!!

Since the 2012 election gobs of people are waking up to the fact that our two party system is seriously broken and our only real chance at changing the status quo is with a 3rd, 4th or even 5th party entering the political arena. The current laws make this prohibitive to all but the richest candidates, and as America has discovered the richest candidates aren't looking out for the poorest Americans. Income inequality is at an all time high, the number of foreclosed homes is only eclipsed by the number of homeless out on the streets, those with jobs are working long hours for little pay and fewer rights, corporations have become all but omnipotent and continue to control everything from what we see on the news to what we put on the dinner table. Let's make this petition grow exponentially so that by the time 2016 rolls around we won't be a nation wearing two party blinders, but instead will be allowed choices which will really benefit the 99%, not just the incumbent corporatocracy!

We the People need to control the process by which we select our representatives in government. The Commission on Presidential Debates is a sham.

The office needs to be given the chance to be filled with someone who cares about the freedom of it's people.
