The Cobb County Board of Commissioners and Planning Commission: Please Vote 'No' to the proposed CCRC rezoning petition Z-2 (2014)

*For May 2014*

Please, only sign if you are a resident of Cobb County, Georgia and over 18 years old.

The 54 acres to the east of East Cobb Park is up for rezoning and will go before the Planning Commission and Board of Commissioners on May 6 and May 20 for final approval. The developer, Isakson Living, is proposing 3-story, 4-story and 5-story buildings with 31 additional duplexes, for a 748-unit Senior Living Facility, with over 1.12 million square feet in addition to parking decks for 882. The size and scale of the project is too much for this area, and we believe this rezoning would have a negative and detrimental impact on the surrounding communities including East Cobb Park.

*From October 2013*

The 54 acres to the east of East Cobb Park is up for rezoning and will be going before the Planning Commission and Board of Commissioners in October for final approval. The developer, Isakson Living, is proposing a FIVE STORY, 978 unit Senior Living Facility. The size and scale of the project is intensive. We believe this rezoning will have a negative and detrimental impact on the surrounding communities including East Cobb Park.

To:
Commissioner Bob Ott, Cobb County Board of Commissioners
Commissioner JoAnn Birrell, Cobb County Board of Commissioners
Commissioner Lisa Cupid, Cobb County Board of Commissioners
Galt Porter, Planning Commission Member
Bob Hovey, Planning Commission Member
Mike Terry, Planning Commission Member
Christi Trombetti, Planning Commission Member
Judy Williams, Planning Commission Member
The Board of Commissioners & Zoning Planning Committee, Cobb County Board of Commissioners
Commissioner Chair Tim Lee, Cobb County Board of Commissioners
I urge you to vote 'No' to zoning petition number Z-2 (2014). The proposal seeks to rezone land east of East Cobb Park to a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC). The proposed development is much too intensive for the proposed location.

Sincerely,
[Your name]

We have plenty of buildings that need to be occupied prior to building new.

The proposal is out of character with the surroundings and it irreparably harms adjacent landowners and landusers.

If NY City can have Central Park why can't WEALTHY East Cobb buy Tritt and extend our park?

There is already an overabundance of traffic on Roswell Rd and its ancillary arteries. Lengthy rush hour and weekend traffic is currently unbearable. We DO NOT NEED this size of project across from the unbelievably gigantic Medical Center already approved and under construction. Get real and start representing YOUR constituents instead of pandering to POLITICIANS AND BIG MONEY. Cobb County DOES NOT need to be paved TOTALLY over.
