Preserve the Perry Harvey Sr Park Skateboard Bowl/ Bro Bowl

    1. Petition by

      Skateboarding Heritage Foundation

The Bro Bowl is the last surviving unaltered, public concrete skatepark from the 1970's in the United States. It is now in danger of demolition as plans move forward to redevelop Perry Harvey Sr. Park. Please help City of Tampa officials recognize the historic integrity of this structure by signing this petition.

The City of Tampa has scheduled a meeting to discuss the redevelopment of Perry Harvey Sr. Park and "showcase" a proposal that includes demolition of the Bro Bowl. The city's economic opportunity administrator stated: "“We wanted to take the opportunity to show people this is what the consensus was.” The City of Tampa maintains their position that the Bro Bowl does not possess the historical integrity to warrant preservation, despite findings to the contrary by the City of Tampa Preservation Commission and the State of Florida Division of Historical Resources. In addition, the City of Tampa has chosen to ignore the signatures supporting the preservation of the Bro Bowl on this petition, and proceed with their original plan. Please attend and show your support for the Bro Bowl.

Plans for the park include a variety of improvements to honor the local history and culture, and to provide city residents with an exciting new outdoor venue adjacent to the Encore development.

    5. City of Tampa Historic Preservation Commission Public Hearing

The City of Tampa Historic Preservation Commission will be holding a public hearing on June 11, 2013 at 9:00 AM in the City Council Chambers located at Old City Hall, 315 E.
