We, the citizens of Reno, Nevada are disheartened with the proliferation of graffiti in our city, disillusioned with the lack of effort our city is taking to eliminate it and disappointed that our Mayor and City Council removed funding for our anti-graffiti enforcement team. Our anti-graffiti enforcement team was a model organization that other cities learned from. Now it is gone and what is the result?

Graffiti is now out of control in our communities. You see graffiti in the older parts of Reno, in the suburbs, industrial areas and even in our gated communities. We need the City of Reno to restore funding for graffiti abatement personnel and restore funding for personnel to research, track and prosecute offenders. We fought hard to have strong anti-graffiti laws passed. We need to start enforcing them again.

If we don't get the help we need from the City of Reno to aid our efforts combating this affliction in the Biggest Little City we can expect lower property values due to the blight of graffiti. Businesses will have to divert funds to clean and maintain their property. Funds they could spend increasing and improving their businesses. Visitors to our city will see a different face then the one we want them to see.

Please sign this petition and let our Mayor and City Council know you will support a decision by them to restore our anti-graffiti enforcement team.  Please share this petition with others and encourage them to sign it as well.

Impressions count, and graffiti creates a bad one... I moved into the midtown neighborhood because it is an example of what a great urban neighborhood can be. I want to see it thrive.
