As a member of The Catholic University of America community and/or as a Catholic in the United States deeply interested in social justice and the affair’s of the Church’s national university, I pledge the following:

--To continue supporting the efforts of CUAllies in seeking official recognition at the University so that a safe, welcoming, and affirming community may be fostered in accordance with the finest traditions of the Catholic faith;
--To respond accordingly, as events progress, to see this goal to fruition by paying close attention to the voices of students and the actions of the administration;
--To extend my support to the many struggles nationwide for LGBTQ/Ally organizations on faith-based campuses that often oppose recognition, many of whom claim a Catholic identity, including our coalition partners at the University of Notre Dame.

      There is no reason not to make CUAllies an official organization at CUA. Any group that will help a part of the student body feel more comfortable should not even be put into question!!

      CUA's lack of an organization like CUAllies is incompatible with their stated mission of social justice. As a social work student here, I can not reconcile this either with my major or my morals.

      It's troubling that an institution that claims to value of sanctity of human life and the dignity of every human actively takes the position to discriminate against students. Until civil rights are extended to individuals who identify as LGBTQ educational institutions will have the liberty to implement such discriminatory practices. All we can do is pray and actively work towards justice for all of God's people. This is a start...
