Thank the Space Needle for Raising the Pride Flag!

      Seattle, WA

Josh Castle started a petition on Change.org asking the Space Needle to raise the Pride Flag on Seattle Space Needle for Seattle Pride 2011 like that had in 2010.

Nearly 10,000 people signed Josh's petition, but more importantly thousands of people shared their personal stories with the Space Needle about why the Pride flag was so important to them.

The stories moved the employees of the Space Needle so much that they decided to raise the flag once again this year.

Not only did the Space Needle raise the Pride Flag, but they also raised more than $50,000 for four amazing charities during a raise the flag fundrasing challenge: The Greater Seattle Business Assocation LGBT Scholarship Fund, Mary's Place, the It Gets Better Project, and Lambda Legal.

Please join me in thanking the employees at the Space Needle for working so hard to raise the Pride flag again this year.

As a married gay man (together for 9 years), as a teen multiple suicide attempt survivor, after attending 3 x-gay ministries & after thousands of dollars of reparative therapy, I feel passionately about how young LGBT people encounter bullying & violence in their home countries, work places & families. I believe anti-LGBT policies are discriminatory & cause great harm in the hearts of young people & send the wrong message that bullying & rejecting LGBT people is OK, robbing them of dignity, respect & as an equal. Your support sends the right message for young LGBT people & people they interact with.
