Thank the Huskers for removing TransCanada ads!

    1. Petition by

      Bold Nebraska

UPDATE:

Great news! The Huskers have announced that they will stop running the TransCanada pipeline ads on the screens at Memorial Stadium. Athletic Director Tom Osborne stated that events at the stadium should "entertain and unify our fan base" and not be "divisive."

Thank you for signing this petition! Now keep signing to send a message to Tom Osborne to thank him for listening to the voices of students and Husker fans and making the right decision.

Original petition:

Husker Nation does not support TransCanada's risky Keystone XL pipeline going through our land and water. We're tired of them trying to buy our goodwill on HuskerVision.

Tom Osborne recently told the Daily Nebraskan that he was negotiating to get TransCanada's ads out of Memorial Stadium. We appreciate that Osborne is listening to Nebraskans' concerns, and we're encouraging him to take it to the end zone.

As a landowner a couple or so miles east of your property in Merrick Co. I don't want my lake contaminated with dirty oil.

The state of Nebraska & all USA citizens have a duty and the right to protect it's natural resources. Why a "foreign" oil company or any other oil company's profits would determined to be more important than the ecological disaster this pipeline will and already has created, is a testament to their lobbying power and the greasing of the right politician's pockets to get the pipeline this far. The fact that TransCanada XL demands "Eminent Domain" over US citizen's land is ludicrous. That these same citizens will need to pay for expensive insurance to cover costs associated with pipeline leaks crossing their land is preposterous. Tom Osborne is taking action to protect our most valuable natural resource, the Ogallala Aquifer, for citizens now and in the future. He realizes the contaminated aquifer will not only be an ecological catastrophe, but it will destroy not only the economy of our state, but the university system, and the athletic program. So what is more important, protecting our children's future or helping a foreign oil company's bottom line by allowing them to get their way and bring their dangerous tarsand product (which is not needed or wanted ) through our state so they can get it to the gulf for refining and export?
