Tell McDonald's: We Want Cage-Free Eggs

McDonald's continues to use eggs from battery hens in all of its U.S. locations.

Hens kept in battery cages cannot even spread their wings. Cage-free hens are able to walk around, and they have two to three times the amount of space as those kept in cages.

Battery cages are also filthy environments, and are a threat to public health. Cage-free facilities have significantly lower rates of salmonella than cage facilities do.

Sign the petition to tell McDonald's that it is time to go cage-free, for animal welfare and for human health.

Using exclusively cage-free eggs would be an enormous step in boosting McDonald's growing image as being a provider of clean, healthy foods (in addition to the regular menu, of course). I would be very impressed if they did this.

I have lived on a farm and in the city. I have seen happy hens and eaten healthy eggs. I have seen sick, dying hens and felt guilty over the conditions when eating out. I am not a vegetarian, but I do support humane treatment of farm animals. Please cast my vote to make the switch to cage-free eggs. I will gladly pay a bit more to truly enjoy my dining experience.

McDonalds in New Zealand, where I live, successfully changed their egg buying practices from using battery hen produced eggs to buying free range eggs. It can be done McD's, and it would show great consumer respect and respect and care to animals by supporting farmers who care for the welfare of their hens free range. You can do it, McDonalds, show some compassion and respect for both animals and humans. Every living creature is worthy of love, food, water, shelter, the ability to express themselves. Love is all their is, and anything less than love is cruelty, by default. Create love, gets love, create cruelty, gets cruelty. You reap what you sow. Peace.
