Tell DC Businesses To Stop Supporting Ringling's Elephant Abuse

      Washington, DC

Some downtown DC restaurants and other area businesses are partnering with the Ringling Bros circus.

I believe that they do not realize how cruelly the circus abuses animals - if they did, I'm sure they would not want to work with them ever again. The DC Business Improvement District and Qorvis Communcations also needs to stop promoting this cruelty. The photo on this petition is from a Ringling training facility - don't let Ringling lie to you about how the animals are treated - they are abused!

I live in DC. I care about animals. This is not acceptable. Please sign my petition to ask these restaurants and the Business Improvement District to stop supporting elephant cruelty.

According to CNN, "Feld Entertainment Inc., which produces the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, has agreed to pay $270,000 for allegedly violating the Animal Welfare Act on several occasions from June 2007 to August 2011, according to a USDA news release." http://articles.cnn.com/2011-11-29/us/us_ringling-bros-fine_1_animal-welfare-act-usda-cruelty?_s=PM:US

Visit www.RinglingBeatsAnimals.com for more proof of how Ringling beats baby elephants!

Ringling Bros needs to answer why it needs sharp metal 'bullhooks' to "guide" the elephants. It would be illegal to use these on dogs and cats and it should be illegal to beat and chain wild elephants in Washington, DC - We are a more compassionate nation that this, people!

If you live in DC, do not support these restaurants and businesses. If you ever visit DC, do not support them. There are many other places to support without helping those who profit from elephants being beaten.

Why does every animal on this earth have to suffer? Does not anyone care?!

Elephants are another beautiful animal that is endangered and could become extinct soon. Why are we abusing them for "entertaining shows"? What is so entertaining about seeing an abused animal do tricks to save its life? We should not use animals are entertainment. If we were desperate enough to see a cute animal do something cute, visit a zoo, where there is no abuse. An animal is naturally adorable, and always has tricks of its own. Why abuse them into doing something they do not want too? Abusing animals is sick and inhumane.
