Creating diverse communities increases opportunity and reduces inequality. America’s metropolitan regions are defined by housing patterns of racial, ethnic, and economic segregation that are harmful to everyone. Promoting integrated communities will de-concentrate affordable housing, promote balanced economic development, support equitable school improvement, and developing sustainable growth patterns.

Surprise. Busing leads to transportation costs, a lot of travel time, and it's not fair to any kid to be bused into a school where he is not comfortable.

Ask your politicians how many of them, Democrat and Republcan, would send their children on a long trek to another school.

There is integration in private schools but you can be sure no one is bussed there or has to take a long train ride.

This, to me, is a forced invasion from the federal government that affects a family financially, affects the children emotionally, and makes them tired from the travelling.

When children of one race have to travel a long distance to go to a school in another neighborhood with kids of the same race as he, it's going to be the same scorecard. Fatigue, resentment, overcrowded schools.......

Many people who are pro integration are against bussing. It was a big boo boo. A really big one.

In Minneapolis, Minnesota, where my grand parents live and actually all over Minnesota, they still bus poor kids to good schools and rich kids to poor neighborhoods to improve schools and keep things very diverse.  Why doesn't everyone do this?  If rich kids don't like it, they will just transfer to private schools and pay as much as going to community college.  At least it equals out tax base so everyone benefits, not just higher income neighborhoods.

The world and the Humanity are suffering due to lack of knowledge and committment to design an integrated Agenda. For a sustainable, prosperous and peaceful world, the AGENDA IS ONE,but due to our mental incapability we are fragmenting the Agenda as result there all kinds of social, economic, environmental meltdowns accompanied by high level of violence/terror.We have to create one Integrated Agenda for all kinds of human activities effectively networked for saving the mankind from all meltdowns/violence/terror.To do this, you and me and the civil society as a whole have to analyse causes, make sustainable plans and initiate actions; instead of depending on only political philosophies and so called political masters who are more interested for their vested interest than that of present and future welfare of humanity.
