Support No Child Left Inside Act

    1. Petition by

      Joseph Tomei

      Grayslake, IL

Our names are Avra and Joseph. We are both in 8th grade, currently attending Prairie Crossing Charter School (PCCS) in Grayslake, Illinois.

At PCCS we have had the wonderful opportunity to learn about the bill No Child Left Inside. We support this bill, and would like to make the public aware of this legislation.

No Child Left Inside’s mission introduces the wonders of nature to children for their well-being, and to preserve and support the conservation of our environment. Being outside has proven both academic and health benefits.  We support this bill, because our school has an environmental mission, and we understand how wonderful environmental education is.

If congress passed the bill, every school in the United States would be required to give their students the experience of Environmental Education. No Child Left Inside proposes that the materials and training should be provided to teachers to teach Environmental Education to their students. The bill also encourages healthy living through outdoor recreation and nutrition.

Sign our petition and express your support for the No Child Left Inside act. Our goal is 1,000 signatures. Please help us make this goal a reality!

I have seen so many children who are not able to be outside, have never been to a forest preserve, some not even to a park.

Children these days spend less and less time outside in the natural environment. They need all the support they can get to create a bond with our earth.

Environmental Education brings together and reenforces all the core subjects like math, reading, writing, and history. It gives students context on what is around them and why.
