Currently, if a government shutdown occurs hundreds of thousands of American's will be forced to go without needed services or paychecks .... unless they happen to be Members of Congress or the President. Debbie Stabenow cosponsored a bill (S.388) with Senators Boxer and Casey that would stop pay for Congress and the President if the government is forced to shut down for more than 24 hours. A shutdown could occur pending the vote on the current budget. Tell Congress we expect them to be accountable for their decisions when managing taxpayer funds. Add your support passage of this bill in the House of Representatives.

If an "average" American citizen does not show up to work, they do not get paid. If an "average" American citizen does not do their job properly, they lose their job and pay. Elected officials, in our government that is for the people, of the people, by the people, must not be elevated or moved to be treated any differently by the people. This applies in cases of government shut-down and elected officials who wish to reduce public/government employee's pay and benefits but not sacrifice any of their own pay, perks, or benefits, despite that a large amount of their time is not working for the people but rather working for themselves to be re-elected.

Stop trying to push your own self righteous agendas. You may not care about the little people while you sit there on your fat stacks, but I do. If the military and federal employees go payless, so should you, the CAUSE.

I would love to have government by the people and for the people again. Is it even possible any more?

Government FAIL!!!!!! America gave the politicians a test, either the house and senate work together and try to help the country, or bicker and fail. Well people they chose the latter. There will never be anything getting done if the two parties can't work together. But that is also the tea party's fault and the people who voted for them.

Why should they be rewarded for not doing their jobs and working together to avoid this shut down in the first place? People are starving, loosing their homes, and resorting to work 2 or 3 jobs to make ends meet. If you don't got to work, you shouldn't get paid. This should be the standard to which all hard working American men and women abide by. It should be no different for those in public office. You cannot be for the people if you don't stand among them in hard times.
