Support and protect Syrian Arab Red Crescent volunteers

Text in Italian, French and Arabic follows:
Syrian people are in desperate need of the humanitarian aid and the presence of the Red Crescent, who, facing great risks and putting their lives at the service of the Syrian people, have decided to suspend their operations because they are not receiving the correct protection from the Syrian government which is obligated to allow them to do their work safely and without fear.

The Syrian Arab Red Crescent has been doing the impossible, working around the clock in rescue to the besieged and suffering people in Syria, evacuating those most seriously wounded and providing medical relief and food to those in dire need. For their humanitarian efforts, they have been accused of being “untrustworthy” and their crucial work has been undermined, as they have been deemed by the concerned authorities as not being “neutral”. In addition to this, several of their volunteers have lost their lives (Alhakam Darq Sbaie, volunteer and Dr. Abd-al-Razzaq Jbeiro, Secretary General and President of the Idlib branch and Mohammed Khadra, doctor). Mohamad Nour Audi, young doctor, Paramedic volunteer and another two (Ahmed Atfeh and Jihad Hakmi) have been arrested in Homs by the regime and quite possibly they are facing conditions of duress if not worse. (Atfeh has since been released, but there is no information on the whererabouts of Audi). One of the SARC’s ambulances (No. 107 with plate No. 246243) was seized and its paramedic squad were detained and savagely beaten and humiliated for a few hours. For this reason, the Syrian Arab Red Crescent has made the decision to put an immediate halt to their operations in parts of Syria. We appeal to the world and to the authorities for health and human rights organisations to stand as we do, alongside the SARC and to demand the immediate release of their volunteers and a speedy return to operations to aid the people of Syria who are desperately in need of the relief, professionalism and capacities that the SARC and all of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent guarantee in every part of the world.

The suffering of Syrians attacked by the regime is appalling. Terrible injuries. The Syrian Arab Red Crescent must be allowed to do its job.

The dirty war which the Assad regime is waging against both journalists and medical aid workers is NOT incidental! It is part and parcel of their ongoing campaign to simply KILL as large a percentage of the protesting population of the population of Syria as possible. As such, the world at large CANNOT and MUST NOT allow this dirty war to continue with impunity!

The Syrian Arab Red Crescent are the biggest saviours of all of Syria. If Syria was put under emergency law, and all of the Assad regime, Russian and Iranian war criminals currently committing war crimes across the Syrian country were all arrested and put on trial for their various war crimes against the Syrian people, then the Syrian Arab Red Crescent should be allowed to take over the country of Syria and to be in charge of sorting out all the humanitarian aid that is needed to help all of the Syrian people. The international Red Cross would not be able to help in the way that they do, in Syria, without the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, they really are the saviours of the Syrian people, and they deserve all the respect they can get. I would also suggest they should also get paid as well, and special UN peacekeepers protecting them to help to protect and to rescue and save, the Syrian people currently being mass murdered by the Russian, Iranian propped up Assad regime.
