Prevent the mining of Jesse Morrow Mountain by Cemex International

    1. Margaret Beatie
    2. Petition by

      Margaret Beatie

      Sanger, CA

Mining on this mountain will:
further diminish the air quality of the San Joaquin Valley in central California
destroy the beauty of a gateway mountain to Kings Canyon and Sequoia National  Parks affecting millions of annual visitors
degrade the sanctity of a mountain sacred to the local Choinumni Tribe
affect the status of a designated scenic highway
impact the water supply of local residents and valley farmers
further add to the congestion of already overcrowded local highways

I have visited this area and it is beautiful. It should not be destroyed.

If this project goes forward, the permanent desecration of this mountain for short term financial gain will stand in stark contrast to the permanent preservation of two of our great national parks for all to see.

I am from the Central Valley Region and went to Reedley High School and Reedley College. I do not want to see the natural beauty of this area destroyed for any reason, but most especially not for economic gain of a company that has a history of environmental desecration!

It's imperative that we don't let this mountain be destroyed. What we'd all lose by one company's gain would be way out of balance.

Fresno air quality is already extremely poor, and water supply in the valley already low, we definitely don't need anything that makes these issues worse in the valley.
