Cho's has been a staple of the California Avenue restaurant community for decades, not to mention the place it holds in every Palo Altan's heart!

The owner of the building is kicking Cho Yu and his wife out to remodel the interior, while leaving the exterior facade unchanged. "We're not changing the front of the building at all because that's the charm of Palo Alto, right?"

No Sue... A facade is just that. The charm is the hole in the wall restaurant that has served generations the best dim sum Palo Alto has to offer!

You dont see places like Cho's anymore. The place was 100% substance. Please don't kill off the last place of great cheap quality food!

This makes me sad...yet another landlord who cares more for the $$$$ bottom line $$$$ than community landmarks and treasures.

Am so sad to hear about this. My husband has stopped there every time he goes back to visit, until this week when he found it gone. California Ave is losing its signature businesses one after another — we were hoping to resettle there someday but by then probably the character of the area will be completely gone.

Cho is a legend. Ca. Ave wouldn't be the same without him!

I live so close to this place and randomly order things off the menu from time to time. I LOVE the food, and I find this very inconsiderate considering that they have been there for years. Why would remodeling necessitate them being evicted? Aren't there other sensible alternatives?
