Things are getting worse and has to be stopped: This shows you what goes on behind closed doors:

Please read this the video is hard to take but needs to be put out there. Thank you

Some new information on abuse and animals-as some people are asking:

MONTREAL - Homes are being sought for more than 600 dogs found living in squalid and inhumane conditions two months ago.

The dogs were discovered in mid-September on a rural property in western Quebec.

The operation was described as the largest dog rescue in Canadian history.

The canines were living in poor conditions without sufficient food and water.

They range in age from puppies to fully grown dogs and different breeds are represented.

Humane Society International/Canada will put the dogs up for adoption after reaching a deal with ANIMA-Quebec, a provincial government agency.

The discovery of the dogs was just the latest in a series of disturbing animal-abuse cases in Quebec that have made headlines in recent years.

The province has long been considered the puppy mill capital of North America, with an estimated 800 unregulated breeding operations in Montreal alone.

In August, nearly 40 malnourished huskies were found chained to trees on a property northwest of Montreal.

Reports in May of animal suffering at Montreal's privately held Berger Blanc pound also shocked many across the country.

Videos of cats and dogs suffering, as well as images of questionable euthanasia practices documented in a Radio-Canada report, prompted widespread criticism.

Quebec was named ''the best province to be an animal abuser'' in the 2011 annual report prepared by the U.S.-based Animal Legal Defence Fund.

There are too many people abusing animals, every second, minute, hour and day, another animal is abused, sexually abused, neglected and exploited. They are starved and beaten and mistreated. We need the government to look into this and see what is in their backyard! Please, STOP this by signing the petition so we can show them the Animals in Canada. This includes Back-yard breeders-Puppy Mills. I am adding too this as I have 2 of my own family furries and 1 at this time that I foster-so whith saying this I want you all to know that this is just not a fly by night thing for me at all! This link can help some people understand why we are doing this, myself I am only ONE but we are MANY!   I and others have fostered dogs from Puppy Mills and there are amazing, I meann it; the love they still have is just unreal, it may take them a little longer to trust but it comes and boy they are just like our fur-babies.  So please do Sign....I thank you and so do all the SWEET FUR-BABIES out there all of them...say: WOOF-WOOF!!    More information.

We need modern legislation now

We need the government of Canada to pass modern and enforceable legislation that protects all animals from cruelty and abuse. Animals matter to Canadians – it’s time to reflect this in our laws.

Here is a letter you can print off or copy and paste to add your Own comments:

Dear Minister,

I am writing to you, as someone who cares very strongly about the treatment of animals, to ask you to amend Canada’s animal cruelty provisions under the Criminal Code. A recent poll by HarrisDecima shows that I’m not alone. Canadians overwhelming support stronger laws for the protection of animals:

87% believe Canada’s animal cruelty law should recognize the importance of animal sentience

•             87% believe cockfighting and dog fighting laws should be equally strong

•             85% support creating a new offence making it illegal to poison, injure or kill a police dog or horse

•             84% would make it a more serious crime to brutally and viciously kill animals

•             78% of Canadians support removing the loophole that allows animal owners to escape prosecution for neglect if it can’t be proven the neglect was ‘wilful’ in intent

•             73% would recognize animals are more than property by moving animal cruelty laws out of the Crimes Against Property section of Canada’s Criminal Code

•             72% would remove a loophole which allows animal killers to escape justice by arguing the animals died quickly and likely didn’t suffer (or suffer much greater)

I recognize that the penalty for animal cruelty crimes was increased in 2008 but these stiffer penalties are meaningless without fixing the loopholes that allow animal abusers to continue to walk away unpunished. For examples of cases where animal abusers have escaped punishment or received a mere slap on the wrist, or a fine that most get for J-walking this is in need of change- please visit WSPA’s website: .  It is appalling that the current law cannot successfully be used against someone who would bash his dogs’ heads in with a hammer, sexually abused them, throw them off a bridge, dump on road!

We the people can no longer ignore the strong relationship between crimes against animals and crimes against people. Research shows that people who abuse animals are more likely to commit future acts of violence against people. Stronger animal cruelty legislation would help stop this cycle of violence and make our communities safer.

I hope you will act on behalf of the vast majority of Canadians who want modern and effective animal cruelty legislation that will protect all animals from deliberate and reckless acts of cruelty and ensure that offenders are justly punished for their crimes. It is clearly the right thing to do. I look forward to understanding your position on this issue.

Yours Truly,

Again, unacceptable. An unaffiliated third party vet with no connection or relationship with the individual in question is the only choice on a rational and realistic basis. Certainty, there needs to be an "arm's length" clause which would preclude the vet from literally investigating him or herself.
More on this to follow in the coming days. While I am hopeful the Bill will be dead in the water and will receive little or no support from other members, it is crucial to be cognizant of the implications of such a Bill. This law to protect the Animals has to be changed!! To Help them not put them in more danger!

Thanks for your online message regarding animal welfare. I appreciate your taking the time to share your concerns with me, and I commend you for your dedication in addressing this issue.

Our government recognizes that the protection of animals is an issue of great importance to Ontarian s. That is why we remain committed to ensuring that cruelty to animals will not be tolerated in Ontario.

As you may know, the revised Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act — the strongest of its kind in Canada — sets out that people convicted of abusing animals face sentences that include jail, tough fines and a lifetime ban on animal ownership. Other provisions include:

      - provincial offenses such as causing or permitting distress to animals
      - authorizing the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals to inspect places where animals are kept for entertainment, exhibition, boarding, hire or sale - requiring veterinarians to report suspected a
