Stop the repeal of LGBT-Inclusive Workplace Protections in the Tennessee Senate

    1. Petition by

      TENNESSEE EQUALITY PROJECT

The Tennessee House of Representatives sent a terrible message in support of intolerance and bigotry on April 25 by passing HB600 - the “Special Access to Discriminate” Act.

The SAD Act would repeal workplace provisions recently enacted by Nashville Metro Government that protect employees from discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. SB632 will deny employees of Nashville Metro contractors any protection from being fired because they are gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender.

This legislation sends a mean-spirited message that reflects poorly on Tennessee.

The Tennessee Senate’s State and Local Government Committee will hear the Senate version of the SAD Act (SB632) on Tuesday, May 3.

It’s time to send a message that the legislature has no business interfering with the affairs of local communities in Tennessee.

Send a message to the Senate State and Local Government Committee  opposing SB632 and share this petition with your friends by email, Facebook, and Twitter.

Senate State and Local Government Committee should support "judge by deed and NOT by color, religion, sexual preferences and other intolerance and bigotry." You should be a role model for a society of tolerance and freedom!

This bill is homophobic bigotry. Call it by its name, and vote it down.

Everyone has the right to equality, read our constitution. A persons sexual preference has no implication on their ability to perform a job.

Discrimination against any class of person is still discrimination. I have experienced discrimination myself based on gender, education, appearance and age...you could be the next to experience it. Our country claims to offer "liberty and justice for all". Don't betray our trust--reject every kind of discrimination. Stop this repeal today!
