The expansion of the UK government's internet powers will attack the freedom of law abiding UK citizens. It is open to abuse and a step way too far.

The Home Office says the move is key to tackling crime and terrorism. They have no right to attack our privacy, if the legislation goes through, Britain will be no different from regimes it criticises such as China and Iran.

This so called 'Act' means the government and its various agencies and police can indulge in unwarranted surveillance of the population. There is no need for any legal procedure to regulate agencies and institutions who do this. This is akin to the arbitrary powers held by Secret Services in the Soviet Union and the results were malignant to the extreme. Creativity and dynamism and economic competence will be slowly eroded by this Act - Security will be increased only with severe longterm costs.

Like the majority of people in the UK, I do not like my privacy to be invaded.
