      Houston, TX

Please read our story below and help your community in two fundamental ways:

1. Stop the Bleeding. By reducing the destructive financial, emotional, and spiritual effects that crime, especially robberies and assaults (both to adults and children) has on a community, and

2. Start the Healing. Help your community "Heal"  and spiritually renew from those destructive effects of crime by implementing programs that embraces the fundamental impact a father's presence has in bringing out the good in our youth, and the creativity that lives within them.

In January, 2012, the owners of FACES, the world's leading police sketch software (see: facebook.com/facesketchsoftware) were themselves robbed in their own home. They used FACES to identify the robber. The subsequent mug shot that was provided by law enforcement looked identical, and the robber was captured a week later.

Spurred by this event, the owners, a married couple, have started a campaign to donate up to $20 million of  FACES software to selected communities. Targeted applications include: crime prevention, campus security, sexual predator prevention, and kidnap prevention.

A fundraising campaign has been started on causes.com. See:  http://www.causes.com/causes/787829-stop-the-bleeding-start-the-healing  All proceeds will go to the Young Inventor's Association of America, Inc (a 501.c.3), which sponsors the Young Inventor's Showcase (YIS).

See the video of the YIS at: http://exhibits.cmhouston.org/inventors-showcase/video/

A portion of the proceeds will be devoted to assist in starting up the Young Inventor's Showcase in that local community.

By signing this petition, you are saying that you support putting Dad back intothe family unit. This helps us track the level of interest coming from your community for the program.

You can find out more about how to bring this program to your community by contacting directly at gmicek@gregjmicek.com

I have been requested to identify the many ways that FACES can impact a community, so here goes:

      1. Law Enforcement: The most obvious application is in law enforcement. Here is a short video that shows FACES being used in a police car, by the first responder: http://www.box.net/shared/gu87fqt75u. Here is a news interview of the Houston police sketch artist, in which she says that, if her skills were more widely dispersed "tens of thousands of cases would be solved every year": : http://abclocal.go.com/ktrk/video?id=6447698

      2. Education: There are many educational applications. As examples:
      a. Art Department: FACES can be used as a foundation for teaching portraitures. See this video from the San Diego City Beat: http://www.sdcitybeat.com/sandiego/blog-690-behind-this-weeks-watch-list-facial-composites.html
      b. History: Use FACES in the classroom to see who can best reproduce the face of our Presidents.
      c. CSI lesson plans.

      More examples will follow.

Even though there are many single moms doing a great job raising children alone, the studies show that when two parents are in the home, children benefit better than ones who don't. It'a a statistical fact supported by many studies. Even the welfare systems intentions may have been good when implemented in the 1960s, at that time a woman couldn't receive aid for her children if a man (the father) lived in the home. This was the beginning of the breakdown of the American family. We can go back even further to where the norm was the need for extended families to work the ranch or farm. The automobile made it easier for families to split from the extended families to go where the jobs were, many times across the country. There were many aunts and uncles to help raise the children when mom and dad were in the kitchen and in the fields. Children must be supervised where parents must instill values and principles which should still be in their purview instead of the schools taking over in these areas. If you don't raise your children, the schools surely will, indoctrinating their world view which may be contrary to your religious and political values. Yes, there are times when divorce is the only way such as in domestic violence situations and abuse of children, but society and especially children benefits most by having two parent households.
