Stop providing the means to sell girls and boys for sex

    1. Petition by

Dan Pulcrano, Executive Editor and CEO

San Jose, CA 55113

Dear Mr. Pulcrano,

Please shut down the “Adult Escort Services” section on your classified ad portion of your website and stop providing a means for others to sell girls and boys for sex. Metro Silicon Valley Newspaper currently utilizes the services of Backpage.com to advertise “Adult Escort Services” throughout Santa Clara County.

Mr. Pulcrano, one of the reasons you opposed the recent statewide ballot measure, Proposition 35 (Stop Human Trafficking in California), was because, “Consensual relationships between teenagers hovering above and below the age of 18 could also fall into a legal gray area”. This quote is from your October 11, 2012 issue of Metro Silicon Valley Newspaper where you recommended a “No” vote on Proposition 35.

Fortunately, Proposition 35 was overwhelmingly passed by California Voters and will:
• Increase prison terms for human traffickers.
• Require convicted sex traffickers to register as sex offenders.
• Require all registered sex offenders to disclose their internet accounts.
• Require criminal fines from convicted human traffickers to pay for services to help victims.

For us, one child sold for sex is one too many.

Please get out of the “Adult Escort Services” business immediately and do your part to protect the men, women, boys and girls that are being sexually exploited and trafficked on Backpage.com in Santa Clara County.

Sincerely,

Chuck Gillingham, Local Prosecutor

Stop Human Trafficking in Santa Clara County...Sign the Petition, do your part! Here is what one County Sheriff says about backpage.com:
"Backpage," Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said... "you're going to be criminally investigated and so are the people that are in charge of the organization.

"It's abundantly clear to us that they are facilitating organized prostitution. They are facilitating human trafficking," he said, adding, "We're not going to have that."

This is not Metro's web site and we don't control the content. The content some people find objectionable is at least four clicks away from our home page. The petition is in retaliation for investigative journalism we have done on SanJose...

Mr. Pulcrano has never been a teenage boy or girl who has been or continues to be abused...has NO understand AT ALL...maybe he has even done some "purchasing" of the services himself. He is an idiot. Sorry, but that is how I feel. He needs to go to "sensitivity" training....listen to survivor stories, about a 1000 of them until he "gets' it. Nuts...

"A world where all are equal ceases to be a place worth inhabiting. I am not for equality. Men and women are different and attempts to make men more womanly or women more manly are not just doomed, they are insulting to humanity. Freedom is what I want, the dawn of a day when each of us can be who we are rather than conform to this or that standard of what is politically correct. That place must come from within us, rather than without.""Feminism exists so that no woman ever has to face her oppressor in a vacuum, alone. It exists to breakdown the privacy in which men rape, beat, and kill women. What I am saying is that every one of us has the responsibility to be the woman March Lepine wanted to murder. We need to live with that honor, that courage. We need to put fear aside. We need to endure. We need to create. We need to resist, and we need to stop dedicating the other 364 days of the year to forgetting everything we know. We need to remember every day, not only on December 6. We need to consecrate our lives to what we know and to our resistance to the male power used against us."

"We all expected the world to be different than it is, didn't we? No matter what material or emotional deprivation we have experienced as children or as adults, no matter what we understood from history or from the testimonies of living persons about how people suffer & why, we all believed, however privately, in human possibility. Some of us believed in art, or literature, or music, or religion, or revolution, or in children, or in the redeeming potential of eroticism or affection. No matter

what we knew of cruelty, we all believed in kindness; no matter what we knew of hatred, we all believed in friendship or love." (Andrea Dworkin)
