Stop North Carolina Wildlife Commission from Killing Tame Deer and Fawns

On September 20th, armed North Carolina Wildlife Agents stormed a farm in Randolph County. The warden carried a warrant to kill nine deer, including 7 fallow exotic deer that were owned by Mr. Kinley and 2 white tail deer that were still in rehabilitation from injury or abandonment. All 9 deer were slaughtered.

Wayne Kinley was given no warning, and there was no appeal process. The deer were peacefully living on the enclosed property of Wayne's farm.

This is not an isolated incident. Earlier this summer, agents similarly stormed another North Carolina property and shot and killed 2 fawns. The property owner was not at home when deer were slaughtered.

These deer were killed to test for Chronic Wasting Disease, a disease that affects wild deer, that has never been found in North Carolina.

The State of North Carolina  search warrant reads "If the property and/or person are found, make the seizure and keep the property subject to Court Order and process the person according to law."

WE SHOULD HAVE A RIGHT TO TRIAL BEFORE ANY ACTIONS FROM GAME WARDENS.

We demand an investigation and protection for tame, rehabilitated deer. The magistrate who signed the warrant and the commander of game wardens must be held accountable. North Carolina wildlife officials are out of control. They have too much power, and they are abusing it.

BURNSVILLE, N.C. -- A skinny, three-legged black bear had become a fixture at an upscale housing community deep in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, rummaging through trash cans and playfully ambling along the golf course After the bear started breaking into homes looking for food, once stealing two pies from a kitchen counter, some people had enough.

    3. Needless Killing of Three-Legged Bear Sanctioned by NCWRC

By Bill Lea A three-legged bear was recently shot and killed at the direction of the NCWRC. There were viable alternatives. When it comes to dealing with so-called “nuisance bears,” killing the bear should not be the only solution. In November 2011, the small bear with its right lower leg dangling by only an outer layer of flesh was first observed in a Western North Carolina community. A subsequent spring sighting revealed the lower leg had dropped off and the severed leg appeared completely healed. The young bear was underweight, having just emerged from its winter den. He soon discovered human sources for food and something had to be done. The NCWRC biologist suggested killing the bear, but instead, a people from the community searched for a sanctuary and an accredited facility in Western N. C. became a possibility. The wildlife biologist and his superiors decided it would be in the best inteest of the bear to kill him. Please go to RiseNC.org for the story.

Please note Johnathan Charles was not invited to the meeting nor was he on the agenda. Mr. Hoyle, Chairman of the Committee recognized Mr. Charles. Therefore one person on the agenda did not get to speak in regards to rehabbing of deer in NC. In other words since Mr. Charles was recognized using The Rehabber Speaker's allocated time.

North Carolina Wildlife Resource Commission (NCWRC) barn stormed another farm and killed 4 white tail deer on March 15, 2012.

All these deer were rescues from the mother being killed, Bucky was 5 soon to be 6 in June, Flash was 3 and the twins were a little over a year old. All were taken in, bottle fed 4 times a day till they were old enough to eat on their own. The deer were healthy and happy, they were not captive deer, They would leave the pen and feed and come back to the shelter. The game warden in charge of this act of murder is a Deacon in his church! Words from Mr. Ridout who rehabbed the deer.

On June 26, 2012 RiseNC.org and volunteers will be demonstrating at the Courthouse in Statesville, NC. Also we will be in Raleigh at the Legislature Building on May 16th. If you can attend please email me.
