Stop making and selling hand guns and rifles that are brightly colored and mistaken for toys

A child in South Carolina was killed last week when they picked up a brightly colored handgun in the home and killed themselves. These weapons look like toys. This is dangerous for children and law enforcement who cant distinguish the difference between a toy and the real thing.

If you do own a gun and think your kid won't get to it, listen to this: A recent study published in the Archives of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine found 39 percent of kids knew where their parent's guns were stored, while 22 percent said they had handled the weapons despite adult's warnings to stay away. What's more, age was not a factor in whether children had played with the guns -- 5-year-olds were just as likely to report doing so as 14-year-olds.

I have carried a gun for 25 years in the Military. Guns are a tool to use in protecting our homes, our families, and to be used for hunting to put food on the table. Guns are not a toy or a game to be played. Make a difference in how gun toys look unlike the real thing and help to educate children with the difference between the two. Do not put profit ahead of our future.

Gun companies should make a weapon look like a weapon and not a toy. What happens if you allow your child to go to a friends house and they have one like this all colorful looking like a toy and something happened to your child. This is horrible and needs attention immediatley.

We have children that play with toy guns as well and i could see how easily mistaken the kids would have been.. it's such a sad story, and if we can help prevent it, i believe we should.

It is ridiculous that gunmakers are producing these firearms that are attractive to children. There is no need for guns to be brightly colored or have characters on it or anything of the sort. A gun is a gun, and it should be clearly distinguishable as such, for the safety of all of us!
