Stop Jet Fuel Dumping! Save the Sedona Sanctuary

      Sedona, United States

To preserve Sedona, the health and safety of citizens, property values and the economic viability of the City of Sedona.  Sedona is the site of illegal jet fuel dumping at low altitude over homes and Oak Creek. This has resulted in cancer and deaths in young people including liver cancer, as well as other serious health problems; people are being slowly murdered in their own homes by business jet pilots!  Sedona Citizens have high levels of jet fuel in their blood!

Many Sedona homeowners lack peaceful enjoyment of their homes, the Sedona Airport Master Plan illegally classified some neighborhoods as "mostly forest land" because the Day Night Noise Level was at it maximum allowable level for this noise sensitive area back in 1997.

Less people are willing to come here to recreate and those who do leave quickly. Sedona has high levels of lead in the air due to the leaded av gas used in airplanes, the fumes from planes and jets collect in basin areas and have no way to evacuate.   Children in Sedona have extremely high lead levels and are being chelated. Sedona citizens are suffering ill health and death from the airport.  No one deserves to be murdered in their own home. The FAA, AZDEQ, EPA, CDC, City, County Commissioners, Congressman Gosar, refuse to help. The Airport needs to be closed now and relocated!  NO MORE JET FUEL DUMPING AND VENTING OVER HOMES!  NO MORE LEAD POISONING!

    2. High Benzene Levels in our Blood!

Visit our website www.closetheairport.com to stay updated on our blog. Benzene, Hexane, Toluene, and Xylene are known carcinogenic killers and the subject of lawsuits. Our blood in Sedona is Full of BTEXs. Imagine you are in bed and suddenly a Gulfstream flies over your roof and your blood pressure goes from 118/63 to 212/135? Your liver starts hurting and you have muscle spasms all over your body, your resting pulse goes from 70 to 155-175 beats per minute and stays there for days.

Rod Propst the Sedona Airport Manager told the City Council that, "no business class jets can dump fuel," really Rod? Why does Gulfstream have jet fuel dumping in their schematics and brochures? Should I believe Gulfstream and the Gulfstream jet pilots and owners, or Rod? If Gulfstream jets don't dump fuel intentionally, I have enough jet fuel in my blood that my home has been taken away from me! My neighbors also cannot safely live in their homes. How many other small GA airports do this to homeowners!?

Close Sedona Airport | Save Sedona Arizona from Plane Crashes & Noise Pollution

Sedona, Arizona, this is the site of illegal and lethal, low altitude jet fuel dumping by private and charter jets, hundreds of feet above our neighborhood and Oak Creek!

    4. Sedona Airport- Survey from City, please complete this.

      Kristin Monday
      Petition Organizer

Please fill this out for the city, getting rid of the airport is on the table! The FAA has land away from town for the airport, the airport is also redundant we have two other airports close by.

      https://www.sedonaaz.gov/Sedonacms/index.aspx?recordid=90&page=502

The airport allegedly generates $20 million, they use this figure to justify there existence; that was during their high point in air traffic. The total economy of Sedona is $550 million. The lead, jet fuel poisoning, cancer treatments, strokes, and other illnesses, deaths, along with decreased property values, shorter tourist stays and people leaving town is not factored in to the real impact the airport has on our town. The true cost to us is very high! No other towns suffers under the constant invasion of airplanes, jets and helicopters sightseeing over their homes, parks, US Forest, and schools. Please complete the survey right away and share with your friends and family.

After my interview in Friday's newspaper the www.redrocknews.com put up a vote on their front page. We had 86-88% of the votes in our favor for three days and today, it looks like they spent all day voting us down. Go to the website and vote to move or close the airport now.

    7. Public Meeting on April 24th with Mac from the Airport has been canceled.

      Kristin Monday
      Petition Organizer

Rob Adams has informed us that there will be no meeting at City Hall on April 24th, nor will there be a meeting at the Elk's Lodge. We were originally notified that Mac would be making a presentation to clear up any misunderstandings about the airport operations and answer any questions the City and the Citizens of Sedona have. After the airport and city met on April 4th they decided they would cancel the public meeting and instead sent me an offer to attend a private mediation with only four people present who have airport concerns but no public.

I was also told, "a flyer will be distributed to the homeowners in the Greater Sedona area, which will address all of the major points in the petition." I presume the city is sending out this flyer?
I would like to make one thing very clear, the city has no jurisidiction over the airport. They have no control over airport operations in any way, shape or form; the airport is on county land, not city land.

    9. Sedona Airport just Received $2 million!

      Kristin Monday
      Petition Organizer

I just received notice from Cole Greenberg (The Sedona Noise Abatement Committee) he said, "Good news..... the Sedona Airport is in receipt of $2 million dollars to upgrade the airport from the Federal Government! " This money is for more expansion to the runway, taxi lanes, a tower and commercial jet service! This will be the death knell to our town and our peaceful enjoyment on the land. Please email everyone on your email list, we need as many signatures and as much support as we can get and we must move fast! Please go to your friends, family and neighbors. Ask them to sign this petition. SAVE THE BEAUTY AND NATURAL ENVIRONMENT OF SEDONA NOW!

I love to vacation in Sedona for the peaceful, beautiful environment, free of pollution from noise and air. Once it becomes unbearable, I will no longer visit.

If you win your petition to close the airport, then maybe Taos will listen and not put in a 8600' crosswind runway. Good luck.

Sedona is our neighborhood and the excessive airplane operation without noise and other pollution control has gotten out of hand

Because clean air matters, and people, families and children especially, should be protected and safe in their living space. Sedona is losing its beauty as well, and deserves to be protected.
