      Mumbai (Bombay), India

The criminal cases slapped  against Jagrit Adivasi Dalit Sangathan  members are all false cases filed to quell protests demanding: due wages and other legal rights under MGNREGA; action against negligence in maternity care along with demands for adequate health staff, drugs, etc and functional public health system; proper functioning of the PDS; stopping illegal mining; forest rights under the Forest Rights Act; honouring the rights of gram sabhas.

The fact that they  have been harassed with these cases after peaceful protests for legitimate demands, is proof of the failure of governance not their “criminality”!

All protests were completely peaceful and legitimate.

Please join to protest this completely arbitrary and unconstitutional attack on our democratic rights.

Jagrit Adivasi Dalit Sangathan has done great work with the marginalized communities in Barwani. Instead of targeting them, the government would do better to learn from their efforts what is it that can actually help tribal communities, in other parts of the country as well - organisation and awareness!

Instead of showing willigness to discuss their issues... this move on part of the government is complete stupidity...they would do very well to learn a lesson from this or else move out and let others handle the situation

I heard a lot about Ms Madhuri Krishnaswamy's efforts. The state government should feel proud on her rather feeling insecure with her efforts for awareness. The government is claiming great achievements for women and marginalized sections but the harassment of an activist who is fighting for poor is showing its real picture.
