Stand Against Bullying. Don't Be a Bystander

    1. Sponsored by

      Robert Land Academy

We are the boys of the Robert Land Academy, an all-boys school. We have taken a stand against bullying and hope you will too. We have signed a pledge that we will not bully and we will not be bystanders when we see bullying occur.

Bullying happens because we all let it happen.

By signing this pledge, we are promising that we will speak up against bullying when we see bullying happen, whether it's online or in person. And we hope you will too.

Bullying hurts. It can even kill. It affects grades at school and productivity at work. Bullying diminishes us all.

Bullies rule others through meanness and manipulation. Their behaviour can be aggressive, spiteful, and nasty. And if we let them get away with it, that is the world we are choosing to live in.

But bullying can also be stopped. More often than not, when someone intervenes, bullying stops within 10 seconds.

Each of us has taken this pledge to ourselves and to the world. Each of us has said:

"I will not be a bystander. I will not look away and pretend it's not happening.

I will speak up when I see someone being bullied or know they are being cyberbullied. I will encourage others to speak up too. And we will make the bully the outsider.

And if it is something I cannot handle on my own, I will tell someone. I will get help if I need it because I know I do not have to do it alone.

Bullying may start with someone else. But it stops with me."

And you.

And a promise to take a stand against bullying. And not be a bystander.

Me and all three of my children (ages 4,5, and 12) agree to this! I start teaching anti bullying at a very young age because that's when it starts! It's every parents job and responsibility to teach this and if everyone did this we could end this tragic epidemic that has gone on far too long!
