ALEC brings unelected corporate officials together with elected legislators to draft legislation outside of public view. The Corporations sponser legislators travel, resort stay and expenses avoiding reporting under Campaign Finance laws. Often these bills are harmful to fair competition, would create discrimination between classes of customers, (e.g. rural/urban), are in opposition to energy efficiency standards and improvements and oppose development and extension of renewable energy. ALEC is a strong opponent of Clean Air and Clean Water laws and in 2012 we have seen pollution specific anti-whistleblower laws to prevent employees of companies like SRP coming forward about whats really happening at their plants. 2012 also saw protections from SRP having to release reports to the public about inspections and safety. Did this legislation come out of backroom ALEC deals.

This isn't a request for SRP to shut down or leave its Arizona home we just want them to remove a black stain on their reputation.

As an SRP customer I'm dismayed that I am unwittingly participating in ALEC. SRP, your purpose is to provide us with afordable and reliable power, not to engage with organisations of questionable moral character.

I am opposed to corporate welfare, especially to a healthy, vibrant corporation like SRP.

People should make the decisions regarding laws with fair representation. When profits from corporations are used to fund other interests that is oppression to the people who had to pay above the break even costs of goods and services.
