We know more about our history thanks to metal detectorists and relic hunters than we will ever learn from archeologists! They are overpriced, and inefficient. They believe they are the supreme diggers of dirt, and no one else has the right to excavate relics. Because of these overzelous scholars, many private land owners cannot even build on their properties without paying these legalized theives to first do an archeological study of their proposed building sites! Its about time we get back to private, individual rights of landowners. This is america, not a communist country!

"This article implies that "Ric" does nothing for education or preservation. This could not be further from the truth. He has authored tutorials for eBay to educate the public how to ID fake Civil War items. He also maintains a web site: http://www.savage-station.com/ that is devoted to outing people that loot our countries past through faking reproductions. All of the digging on the show is done with the property owners permission (who also shares in the sale of the artifacts) and the grounds are returned to there pre-dig condition."

The people that are anti relic hunting when performed on private property ,with the owners permission, have not a clue as to what is really involved. These people would just as soon lump all private property into a "collective ownership" with decisions made regarding the welfare of such items made by a "central committee"

      Sound familiar ?
