Sheriff Al Cannon

Resign from position of Charleston County Sheriff

    1. Petition by

      lance sudano

      Charleston, SC

Sheriff Al Cannon is not fit to lead the Charleston County Sheriff's Office. He has displayed an irrevocable character breach. He has been dishonest to his constituents. He lied concerning the methods and events which he said led to suspects apprehension. He endangered the public to chase a suspect who's biggest crime, before he fled, was driving with a suspened license.. Are our families lives worth the apprehension of a suspect who cut off the Sheriff in traffic? The Sheriff should be relieved of duties immediately.

This was just Plain wrong and all the officers involved, including management know this.

This is a classic example of excessive force and overzealous police action which is all to common on America's streets.

The blows delivered by the intial officer was crimminal enough, then to further allow the K-9 Dog in close proximity to attack is completely unjustifiable and unwarranted on all levels.

In furtherance, the handler was not able to control the K-9 dog after physically assulting the suspect with numerous bites. All of this occurred "AFTER" the alleged suspect was already in custody is reason enough for immeadiate termination specifically of the arresting officer and the K-9 officer.

The city and/or county, the police department should be be held liable. The arresting officer and K-9 officer specifically should be helld personally liable for those actions as showed.

All K-9 officers of this department should be suspended and not allowed for further operation, until they all undergo rigorus re-training for control and proper handling by a certified federal agency. Increassed supervision, oversight, monitering should be implemented as well to insure the safety of all of its citizens.

A Federal civil rights violation suit should be filed on this citizens behalf to prevent this type of abhorrent behavivor by those sworn to serve and protect. The suspect should also be charged for all violations.

These actions shown by these officers sickens and saddens me greatly as a person, and a American citizen. This is why I fear America's police more than any Terrorist organization , drug dealer or Robber.

I have provided links to statutory and case law establishing that James Alton Cannon, Jr. and deputies were operating outside of the law.
