Several years ago during, the Bush Administration, the FDA reiterated its 30 year old policy of banning all gays from donating blood regardless of whether they were sexually active or not. This is clear discrimination again gay men which is held up by the myth that heterosexual people rarely contract HIV. America's blood centers state that this bars potentially heathly donors at a time when there is an increasing need for donated blood. HIV testing now is highly accurate and can detect up to within 10 days of infection. Please petitiion the FDA to reevaluate its discriminatory policies.

I would go a step further and say that gay men should start to stop donating organs as long as they are allowed to donate blood. Why are our organs are OK but not our blood?
