On Friday March 16, 2012 a school bus carrying students from James Island Elementary School was in a traffic accident at the intersection of South Grimball Road and Folly Road. This accident brought to light the continued concerns of local residents, parents and school officials, who are affected by the unavoidable hazards of the intersection.  Help ensure the safety of students and citizens by petitioning the Department of Transportation to install a traffic light at South Grimball Road and Folly Road.

A traffic light is needed at the is dangerous intersection because it is often difficult to see the traffic flow and et across.

Because my son was on the bus that was hit. I've always thought that is a very dangerous corner for anyone pulling out onto Folly Rd. Especially when most cars have kids in them.

Next... Successionville & Ft. Johnson! (Kids traveling to the HS.

There are several buses that try to go across Folly Road on Grimball Road 5 days a week, not to mention the parents that take/drop off their children at school. Eventually they take risks here as the traffic backs up at this intersection and they want to get across. It will help the safety of everyone who goes through this intersection. Having it on a trip sensor would be best especially in the summer when school is out and traffic to Folly Beach is heavy. Being on a sensor would trigger the light and it not go off unnecessarily holding up Folly Road traffic.
