Say No to Hate Music! Don't give a platform to singers who call for the murder of LGBT people.

A number of clubs in Europe will offer a stage in March and April to an "artist" who calls for the murder of LGBT people. It is time to speak up again and to call for a boycott of these events and their sponsors. Several clubs invited the singer Sizzla, who uses his songs to encourage the murder of homosexuals:

Here are some of Sizzla's lyrics (translations in parentheses):

In "Pump Up" he sings:
Step up inna front line (Step up to the front line)
fire fi di man dem weh go ride man behind (burn the men who have sex with men from behind)
Shot battybwoy, my big gun boom (Shoot queers, my big gun goes boom)

In "Boom Boom" he sings:
Boom boom! Batty boy them fi dead (Boom boom! Queers must be killed)

In the song "Get To Da Point" he sings:
Sodomite and batty bwai mi seh a death fi dem (Sodomite and queers, I say death to them)
Mi no trust babylon fi a second yah so (I don't trust Babylon for a second)
Mi a go shot batty bwai dem widdi weapon ya (I go and shoot queers with a weapon [as in gunshots])

At a reggae concert in Chicago in April 2002, Sizzla bragged that he kills queers, and also incited the audience to murder gays and lesbians: "mi nuh go tek back mi chat... mi kill sodomite and batty man dem bring aids and disease pon people... shot a kill dem, mi nuh go tek back mi chat" [I wont take back my words... I kill sodomites and queers, they bring AIDS and disease upon people... shoot and kill them, I won't take back my words.]

The Jamaican gay activist group J-FLAG confirms that lyrics like these significantly worsen the already-negative attitude towards homosexuals on the island of Jamaica. In 2008 he was arrested and sent back to the United States after he arrived for a concert in Madrid after Spanish human right organizations protested against what they said was his call for violence against homosexuals. In 2007, Sizzla's concerts in Toronto and Montreal had been cancelled after protests. In 2009 and 2010 several concerts in Germany had been cancelled after public protests against the concerts. Two of Sizzla's albums are forbidden to be sold in Germany, and a German politician compares this kind of music with neo-Nazi music. We must build on this growing movement.

These songs are all on YouTube. And these are not all of Sizzla’s homophobic songs. Sizzla signed the Reggae Compassionate Act agreement promising to “respect and uphold the rights of all individuals to live without violence due to their religion, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity or gender”. But he violated his agreement immediately. In an interview in the Canadian entertainment magazine 'Hour', Sizzla said: "...burn sodomite, burn battyman. Burn all things that are wrong. Burn it... We must get rid of Sodom and Gomorrah right now..."

We demand that the 18 Clubs (Live Club in Milano, Atlantico in Rome, Reigen in Vienna, Travastia in Helsinki, Rhythm Club in Oslo, Melkweg in Amsterdam, L'Oval in Nancy, Heidegger in Rotterdam, Oosterport in Groningen, LVC in Leiden, Art Cube in Gent, Coliseu dos Recreios in Lisbon, La Rocher Palmer in Bordeaux, Rockstore in Montpellier, Le Dock Pullman in St Denis, Salle Mandeala in Hasparren, La Safire in Pontivy, Salle Du Kao in Lyon, Espace Julien in Marseille, Barby in Tel Aviv and MOJO Concerts) to immediately withdraw their support of people who call for hate, violence, and murder -- towards gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgender people, and anyone at all!

More good news to share: The concert of Sizzla in Belgium has been cancelled. This sends out a very positive message. Now we are waiting for News from France and Israel. 8 locations still offering a platform to an Artist who called for violence and murder of LGBT people. An Artist who shows no respect to the equal worth of all human beings. An Artist who thinks that taking away the right of life and the dignity of a person is Entertainment and a source of profit. We do not longer want to tolerate that. We say no to hate music!
Please continue to ask your friends to sign the Petition or email to the Clubs and leave comments on their facebook pages asking to respect human dignity instead of only looking for their profit and to please cancel the remaining events:

    6. Two more Concerts of Hate-Singer Sizzla have been cancelled!

      Anton Beierhuber
      Petition Organizer

More exciting news to share. Another two concerts, one in Barcelona and one in Oslo, have been cancelled after our massive protests. It is sad and disturbing that still some event locations like the Melkweg in Amsterdam, L'Oval in Nancy, Oosterpoort in Groningen, LVC in Leiden, Rockstore in Montpellier and others still give a platform for those who calls for violence and murder of the LGBT community. Video proof has ben sent to them that shows Sizzla performing on stage and violating the Reggae Comapassionate Act (RCA), calling for murder and hate. They simply do not care and keep their eyes straight on the profit.
We still demand the remaining locations withdraw their support of this artist. We say no to hate music! The time is running out. Some concerts took already place. Please ask your friends to sign the Petition and post the link to your Twitter and Facebook pages.

Again, I am happy to tell you that after our ongoing protest, the event of Sizzla in Stockholm have been cancelled. This sends out a very positive message. Those who call for violence and murder are not welcome in our society.
We still demand the cancellation of the remaining events. In 2011 Sizzla already violated the Reggae Compassionate Act in which he promised not to sing his songs that call for violence and murder of LGBT people, which he had just signed two years before. We don't want another empty promise. We demand the remaining locations withdraw their support of this artist. We say no to hate music! Please ask your friends to sign the Petition and post the link to your Twitter and Facebook pages.

I am happy to tell you that after our massive protest, the events of Sizzla in Malaga and Valencia have been cancelled. This sends out a very positive message. Those who call for violence and murder are not welcome in our society.
We still demand the cancellation of the remaining 16 events. In 2011 Sizzla already violated the Reggae Compassionate Act in which he promised not to sing his songs that call for violence and murder of LGBT people, which he had just signed two years before. I agree 100% - society must demand any club anywhere, of people who call for the hate, violence, murder, bullying, towards the LGBT community, or anyone else for that matter. Their are a lot of sick puppies out their that truly act on the very words of such sick songs.

Alexander the Great was gay. Greek military forces were gay or gay tolerant as were many Roman detachments. Several Roman emperors and generals were openly gay.

To list only a few internationally known homosexuals, there are the Chinese emperors Ai Ti and Pu Yi; the UK has Queen Anne and William Shakespeare; from the US, Presidents James Buchanan and Abraham Lincoln, Walt Whitman, First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt, J. Edgar Hoover and Francis Cardinal Spellman. There was also a suspiciously ‘warm’ relationship between George Washington and Alexander Hamilton. Catholics include the Popes Benedict IX, John XII, Julius III, Leo X and Paul II. From Prussia we have Frederic the Great; from Germany, Ludwig II and Richard Wagner; Italy - Da Vinci, Michelangelo and Florence Nightingale; Russia - Tchaikovsky and Czar Alexander I; Ireland - Sir Arthur Sullivan and Oscar Wilde; Japan – Kukai and Musashi Miyamoto; Israel – King David. Every occupation, religion, culture and family has men and women who are gay and psychosexually need to express physical love for people of the same sex.

No individual artist or group should be allowed to promote hatred of any kind to the extent of encouraging people to go out and kill. Especially when it comes to influencing impressionable young disaffected young people. Surely this is a criminal offence - incitement to commit hate crimes. This so-called artist should be held in "protective custody" for his own protection. Until he can be put on trial and sentenced.
