Save Wild Waters

      Ocala, FL

Wild Waters in Ocala, FL has been a summertime fun tradition since 1978 for people of all ages. It has also provided summer jobs.

Since the State of Florida has taken over Wild Waters, the Silver Springs State Park Management Plan Advisory Group has decided they want to close our water park.

It is WRONG that a hand full of unelected bureaucrats have the authority to make recommendations which would deny 1,000's of us in Ocala our Waterpark.

The Silver Springs Advisory Group DOES NOT Represent the citizens of Ocala or our wishes. They have proven that they do not care about the majority of Ocala citizens wishes by recommending closure of this beautiful Water Park. The fact that thousands of people patronize Wild Waters each year proves people wants this park to remain open.

There is very little entertainment here in Ocala as it is. Removing and demolishing Wild Waters would be a devastating to the thousands of people who enjoy going there and would also cause the loss of summer time employment for quite a few people.

We are asking that Wild Waters in Ocala, FL be preserved, restored and re-opened as soon as possible.

Hope everyone had a great summer and was able to enjoy going to Wild Waters.

As stated in the article, Wild Waters days are Numbered, the Silver Springs
Advisory Group may be submitting plans to the Florida Acquisition and Restoration Council on December 12, 2014 to have Wild Waters phased out within 3 - 5 years.

We feel the best way to make sure that doesn't happen is for everyone to make noise about this and expose this to the news media. If you know anyone at TV, Radio Stations, Newspapers or anyone who you feel can help, please tell them about the new website and help get the word out about efforts to close our Water Park.

We need to keep the pressure on until it is formally announced that Wild Waters will be preserved.

We have set up a website at with information where you can file complaints and make your voice heard.

      Best Regards,

It is a very special place. Have alot of great memories there and it should not be demolished.

Because even though I live in Gainesville, I have enjoyed many hours at Wild Waters and I don't want it to be closed. It is the only water park in the area!

It would be an incredibly bad decision for our local economy to remove Wild Waters. Silver Springs park has been stripped down to being just be a 1 or 2 hour attraction. Wild Waters makes the trip a full day activity for the family. Ocala needs something for kids -- and I've never met a kid who would rather swim in a lake than ride a water slide. Not just that, but the filtered water in Wild Waters is far safer to swim in than Spring/Lake water due to the presence of Naegleria fowleri. Wild Waters must stay. Orlando is just too far to drive for a water park.
