Save Smokey Bear from Getting Cut in Congress

    1. Petition by

      National Wildlife Federation Action Fund

Right now, Tennessee Congressman Scott Desjarlais is leading a nationwide public effort to eliminate the U.S. Forest Service Conservation Education programs, which includes the beloved Smokey Bear education program, "children's forests" and the More Kids in the Woods program.

Since its start more than 65 years ago, the widely popular Smokey Bear Program has become one of the most successful public ad campaigns of our time, and helped to reduce the number of acres lost annually to fires by some 62%.

Smokey Bear, and programs that help educate and empower the American public to conserve our natural world and protect their local communities are not to blame for the budget problems we face today.

Urge your members of Congress help stop the unnecessary attack on Smokey Bear and his family!
