Save Principal Cecere

At the time of writing, Ms. Cecere's contract has not been renewed for the 2011-2012 school year and School One does not have a principal for the new academic year.

Ms. Cecere is clearly qualified for the job, else she would not have been hired in the first place. Her professional feedback over the past year has been outstanding, she has widespread support from the parent body and is well loved by the student body.  She brings a phenomenal combination of practical business experience and a wealth of classroom teaching experience, which is a boon to both the faculty and children that constitute the building.

Ms. Cecere's commitment to the students is beyond reproach and she has put in countless hours of her own time for our children.  Please sign this petition so Ms. Cecere can keep a job she loves and that she is undeniably good at. If she's good now, just imagine how great she will be as she's given the opportunity to build on what she has learnt over the past year.

I'll be attending the next regular scheduled business meeting of the board at 8:00 PM in the Library of School No. 1 on Monday, June 13, 2011. As of this evening (Thurs, June 9th) there is no agenda posted on the website. I STRONGLY URGE as many of you as possible to attend this meeting. We need to show the Board just how many people support Ms Cecere. In order for our case to be received positively, please be judicious in the manner and timing of your comments to the board. You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar!

The petition was handed to the Board of Ed and Superintendents at their meeting last night. It was received as positively as can be expected and I am hopeful that they will consider all the comments you left here, which I included. The petition will stay open until June 13 (next board meeting), so please encourage any supporters to keep signing, as emails will still get sent to those we're petitioning every time someone signs online. Thanks you all so much for your support, your input and your hard work.

I will be printing hard copies of the petition with signatures and comments for the board meeting on Tuesday. If we can hit 300 by then ... FANTASTIC. Even if we don't, let's do everything we can to get as many as humanly possible by then. Thanks again - from my kids and yours!

Hi everyone - please keep up the good work and SPREAD THE WORD! I believe that this situation speaks to whether the children's best interests are being prioritized and how Board business is being conducted. It affects everyone that pays for the Budget they manage.

It is my understanding that this goof up is @ the feet of the State. She is liked by the students and parents. Cut the red tape and do the right thing.

As an electorate, we voted, last fall, to cut jobs and education in order to pass the savings onto the richest 1% of Americans in the form of tax cuts. So what is happening to Principal Cecere and our schools is only what we voted for. However, I was in the minority and vote FOR jobs and FOR education.

Complaining, protesting or signing petitions now, in 2011, is like shutting the barn door after the horse got out. The time to save jobs and funding to our schools (and police, fire departments, road repair, unemployment insurance funds, cancer research grants, etc.) was last November. Sadly, we can't just go and change our minds after the facts -- at least not this year.

We can do something in the near future, however. We can vote differently in 2012 than we did in 2010. If we vote the same and then, once again, complain that teachers and principals are being laid off, then we will only be hypocrites. Hopefully, in the short-term, we can save Ms. Cecere's job and, in 2012, save many, many more.

Not renewing Ms. Cerere's contract would prove to be a huge loss to this district! She is well liked by her students and respected by colleagues and parents! Not renewing her would be outrageous and irresponsible!!

Why are we holding off on a renewal of her contract anyway? What reasons have you or are we not privvy as parents and stakeholders of our children's education with regards to your reasons for holding off on her contract?
