This will be detrimental to The Long Hungry Creek farm which has been in opperation since 1974 by Jeff Poppen aka "The Barefoot Farmer" The farm would ultimatley have to close because of the impact the CAFO would creat. His farm provides for lots of schools and communities. He also provides education to numerous orginizations and the public on how to have a self sustainable farm. Here is link to The Long Hungry Creek farm website with details on the situation. Any extar help would be much appreciated. There are also 2 different documentries in the works on the situation.

This farm is an example of the type of farming and local education that our children and the future needs. Having Tyson come in and put a CAFO, that is well known to be toxic and a haven for diesease, would destroy the conditions that allow the Long Hungry Creek Farm to serve the community so well. We have to support Jeff Poppen, because he has supported us by doing more than farming. He is educating our community.

Protecting the land and the people that care for that land ensures the health and economic viability of the people that call this place home. This is our home, our land, which sustains us. Tyson would be doing a huge disservice to the people and their presence would mean the degradation of the land, water, and air, and therefore the local economy.

I have visited the Farm and have gotten to know the people that lived there, and it would be an atrocity to see such a great Farm close.

I have known Jeff for more than 30 years. He does not deserve this, and confined animal feeding operations should never be located on karst (geological formations characterized by caves) because the water can too easily be polluted. Tennessee has very weak environmental laws; this facility should never have received a water quality permit.
