For 50 years The Center has been a home away from home to people from over 90 countries. It is a place where they are welcomed into a new culture and where hundreds of dedicated trained volunteers offer them English-language training and an introduction to American culture so important to their success here.
The International Center in New York is a unique volunteer-driven community serving immigrants, US citizens, refugees, asylees, diplomats, visiting business professionals, international students, temporary visitors and families.

The ICNY is one of the best place I've ever known. It's one of the reason that I love NYC so much. I met a lot of friends there and I spent very good times with nice and open-minded people from all over the world. Please sign the petition and help us to save the center.

All great cities have a cultural and linguistic hub where recent immigrants can come to learn the skills to become good neighbors to those in their new homes! What a shame that New York City is willing to turn its back on those of little means who come be part of the project of our global city, while billionaires from abroad buy up prime Manhattan real estate that sits empty for much of the year, contributing nothing to our city's life.
