17 year old Trayvon Martin was shot and killed on February 26th by a 28 year old self proclaimed Neighborhood Watch volunteer named George Zimmerman. Zimmerman called the police to report a suspicious person when he saw the 17 year old black boy walking home from the store. Zimmerman proceeded to follow the boy after being instructed not to by the 911 operator, which ultimately lead to Zimmerman brandishing his 9 mm caliber gun, shooting the 17 year old boy in the chest and killing him. Zimmerman has not been charged or arrested for the senseless murder of 17 year old Trayvon Martin. Zimmerman has claimed he shot and killed the boy in self-defense even though Zimmerman was the one who followed the boy and disobeyed direct orders from the 911 operator. Chief Bill Lee of the Sanford Police Department told investigators Zimmerman shot the boy in self-defense after the boy attacked him. There is no evidence of this claim. However, there is evidence that Zimmerman followed the boy and disobeyed orders from the 911 operator. How is it self self defense when you are the aggressor? Zimmerman was never in any danger. Please check into George Zimmerman's history. You will find that he was accused of assaulting a police officer and is known in the community for stalking people, placing calls to 911 regularly, and being aggressive in nature. We call for the resignation or dismissal of Chief Bill Lee of the Sanford Florida Police Department as his department has failed to make an arrest proving their incompetence; so much that the Justice Department and FBI are now conducting their own investigation. What message does this send to parents and our children? Even in 2012 parents need to feel some sense of safety for our children and that the Police are there to protect the innocent, not the guilty.

If you can't trust the people that are sworn in to uphold the law then what do we need them for? Fire him.

I'm signing this because this is senseless I have a son and it could have easily been him, my brother or anyone of my male cousins. This makes me question why we even have police if they are not going to protect and serve the innocent. No one should be scared to walk down the street in the 21 century and if he gets away with this then I'm afraid that more things like will happen again not just by zimmerman towards African Americans but towards anyone who seems to be different. The laws have to change, we might have a black President but racism is very much alive and going strong. Arrest zimmerman now and let just be served.
