Deny Jack In the Box Late Night Permit

We, the undersigned residents of San Francisco's Richmond district, strongly oppose the issuance of an after-hours permit to the Jack in the Box (“JIB”) located at 4649 Geary Blvd. This site has been a serious public nuisance in the neighborhood for decades. Garbage, noise, drunkenness, disorderly conduct and fights that occur after 2 a.m. use a disporportionate amount of our neighborhood police resources and have intimidated neighborhood residents. We the neighbors, businesses and residents call upon the Entertainment Commission to reject JIB’s after-hour permit application.

We need to keep gathering petitions for another two weeks when the Entertainment Commission will meet again to consider Jack In The Box's late night application. Supervisor Mar has promised to hold meetings in our neighborhood to discuss our concerns. Please write to him at eric.i.mar@sfgov.org and tell him you want to participate in the discussion. Thank you for all your hard work.

Why does the entertainment commission determine whether or not the late night permit gets issued to jack in the box? For your answer, click on the link below. Turns out the entertainment commission regulates all after hour permits including at businesses where there is no entertainment as is the case with jack in the box.

    8. 2010 Richmond Police Station Crime Stats on Jack in the Box

      david lee
      Petition Organizer

Police calls to the corner of 11th and Geary averaged almost one per day in 2010. There were 23 "A calls" ("A calls" are most urgent and require 2minute or less police response time) of which 90% were made between the hours of 9pm and 3am. Tax-payers end up paying the bill for these police calls which happen at hours when the station is thinly staffed. Enough is enough. Let's work together to make our neighborhood safer! Please email your friends and neighbors.

Hey David Lee! how does 700+ signatures turn into 1500 when you talk to the press? here's how: you're a lying racist who wants to push an immigrant owned business out of the neighborhood so you can move your business in. If you want absolute quiet move to Palo Alto. They're accepting of your kind down there. Yes, that was meant to sound racist. Learn the taste, buddy! BTW, most of these "signatures" are bots. Not hard to program these.

I am concerned about additional trash/litter in the neighborhood. A large portion of the current trash is fast food containers, many of which are Jack in the Box wrappers and containers. Late night diners are more likely to be under the influence of alcohol and may cause more litter. If you approve this, please condition it on a clean up program for neightbohood litter.

The disporportionate amount of our neighborhood police resources required at this establishment after 2am.
