Residents of Whitehall and Montague, Michigan: Keep Wal-mart out of Whitehall and Montague!

    2. Petition by

      Pasadena, CA

Montague, Whitehall and the surrounding area do not need, nor are they demanding the construction of a Wal-mart in their community. Wal-mart pays low wages, devitalizes local businesses and keeps its profits to pay its executives huge salaries. Protect local business and take a stand against corporate profiteering!

My name is Craig and I am the son of a local resident.  My father and his friends have asked for my help in protecting their communitiy from Walmart's abusive corporate enterprise.  I visit Whitehall and Montague every year to visit my family and enjoy time at the lakes.

To:
Residents of Whitehall and Montague, Michigan and surrounding areas
Keep Wal-mart out of Whitehall, Montague and surrounding area!

Sincerely,
[Your name]

I fought against the Walmart in Fruitport and lost. Now I'm stuck living across the street from it

The atmosphere in Whitehall promotes relaxation, whereas Wallmart's image is cut throat greed, cheap products, low wages.

I can`t think of a faster and uglier way to completely trash out the nice communities of Whitehall and Montague than to allow Walmart to come in so your residents can save mere pennies and have a few very low paying part time jobs, with no benefits. It will mean the loss of the smaller businesses and begin the new culture of mediocrity to set in.

I grew up in Shelby went to high school there and I loved going into the white lake area just to get away from all of the people if you put a wal mart in Whitehall you will mess up your community not only the jobs but all of the people coming there from close town just to pay less for bad goods I used to work for walmart and they don't like to pay there employees nothing and they don't work there employees enough hours to pay there rent or bills I moved back to Shelby with my wife and son and I want it to be the way it was when I was younger and that is fun and not too many people in one area I am willing to help out as much as I can
