Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate

Rescind their signatures on the "Taxpayer Protection Pledge"

    1. Petition by

      Brian Ward

      Colorado Springs, CO

"The Pledge," as it's now known, effectively hands over control of national budgetary decisions to Grover Norquist, a man who said "Bipartisanship is another name for date rape." This pledge currently has one real goal: to protect the wealthiest taxpayers. Historically low tax revenues are not sustainable, and are preventing us from addressing the debt problem. Americans must make sacrifices to ensure the viability of this nation long-term, and we need to begin by asking more of the people who have the most; these are the kinds of sacrifices that the "Greatest Generation" made out of their confidence in and love for this great nation. Join me in petitioning our congressional Republicans to stop answering to Grover Norquist, and start answering to the American people.

For the betterment of our country, those who succeed should be willing to give back a little more.

Honestly, why won't it be important? Dumb question, person-who-wants-me-to-sign-things

They owe service to the community that elected them. Not an outside element creating fear & hate.

Tax decisions ought to be made on a case-by-case basis. To rule out any tax increase for the entirety of a legislator's tenure is the height of absurdity.

They work for us! Not Norquist!
