There are  236 members of the House of Representatives each of the 41 Senate members have sold out to Grover Norquist and special interest and have refused to represent the interests of their constituents. They were elected to represent the citizens of these United States and instead are representing the interests of lobbyists only. These elected officials have failed to uphold their Constitutional duty and must be removed from office and prosecuted in accordance with the law. In addition they should lose all pay and benefits for life dating back to the day they signed the pledge.

These Republicans (and 3 democrats) made a conscious decision to swear allegiance to Grover Norquist with full knowledge of his intent at the same time they shunned their oath of office they had no intention of keeping. These politicians deserve nothing less than to be removed from office and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

A bit about Norquist,

Many people do not know who Grover Norquist is or the power he wields over our elected officials.  He is often called the most powerful man in Washington, yet Norquist isn't an elected official he is a lobbyist and the founder of Americans for tax reform which is a group whose sole purpose is to reduce taxes to the lowest point.

He says the only way to strip the government of all its powers is to reduce their ability to tax and collect. Which is the main purpose of Congress - to tax and use those taxes for services to the public. Essentially he was the tea party before the tea party got its name. Members of congress swore to uphold the constitution and they knowingly signed the pledge that violates that oath of office. Considering he is technically no one with no real power it shows how weak and controllable these republicans and some democrats are.  Remember, this is not about party differences, he has targeted the republicans and they have caved to his demands.

The Americans for Tax Reform pledge commits signers to “oppose any and all efforts to increase the marginal income tax rates for individuals and/or businesses … and oppose any net reduction or elimination of deductions and credits, unless matched dollar for dollar by further reducing tax rates.”   This applies to both state and federal office holders.  In all reality there are far more than the 236 members of the House of Representatives each of the 41 Senate members that have signed this pledge, my goal with this petition is to target those in the house and senate and let the states handle the others.  He feels we can achieve this by eliminating all social programs such as Medicare, Social Security, Education, Welfare etc.  If it doesn’t build up big business or serve special interests he wants it gone.

We elected these men and women to uphold the constitution but Norquist has managed to coerce them into upholding his personal interest – those of a lobbyist rather than the interest of the American public.  If a republican member of the house or senate refuses to sign the pledge they are essentially blackballed and receive zero support form the RNC and any other forms of funding and support.  This includes current elected officials as well as all candidates running for office.  And yes Mitt Romney also signed the pledge.  The only candidate that didn’t sign was Jon Huntsman and you saw how quickly his race ended.

In Article VI, Section 3 it reads, “The Senators and Representatives, and the members of the several state legislatures, and all executive and judicial officers, both of the United States and of the several states, shall be bound by oath or affirmation, to support this Constitution,” and is “is prima facie evidence that the acceptance and holding of office or employment by the affiant does not or will not violate section 7311 of this title.” Section 7311 (1) of the U.S.C. clearly states “An individual may not accept or hold a position in the Government of the United States if he/she advocates the overthrow of our constitutional form of government.”

The penalty for breaking their oath of office is detailed in 18 U.S.C. 1918 that says, “Whoever violates the provisions of section 7311 of title 5 may not accept or hold a position in the Government of the United States and shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year and a day or both.”

If you take an oath of office to uphold the Constitution you should be prosecuted when you blatantly fail to do so. We have to take back the Congress and make these people do their job. If we prosecute the Congressional leaders and send these people to jail the others will get the message and perhaps do as they swore an oath to do.

These men are traitors and mean ill will on the American population. You cannot be an elected official and wish ill against America.

It's important to me because I believe in the good government can do. Most of us need the government programs at times in our lives. Only the very wealthy don't need money to send their kids to college, Only the wealthy never need food stamps to feed their children. Only the very rich can live without social security or pensions. The majority in this country deserve the government to function and these guys who have refused to work with Obama to create jobs and move this country forward just because they want a Republican president and anybody except Obama should be thrown out of the senate and congress and then prosecuted.

I truly believe this practice is a violation of the oaths that these politicians took. No individual should be permitted to usurp the right of the people to govern.

There seem to be no bounds to the corruption and forgetting who our congress is suposed to represent. It's criminal in my opinion.
