Protect Your Health and Safety in the Federal Budget

    1. Petition by

      Food & Water Watch

The federal budget currently proposed by Congress slashes critical funding for food safety and water programs, threatening the health and safety of all Americans. This includes deep cuts in meat inspection, despite the massive recalls of the past few years, and dramatically underfunding necessary water system improvements.

President Obama's proposed budget is not much better. Both budgets fail to provide basic services that most of us expect, while keeping spending that directly benefits and subsidizes large corporations.

Can you send this video to your members of Congress and ask them take action to make sure these budgets will provide for basic services that protect our health and safety?

This is also a threat to national security and national interest - the heatlh and financial burden to pay for unsafe food and water safety. So far there are no industry that can prove they have done an excellent job of pro-active self-regulation to include the unions and sadly the Republicans and Democrats from the local to the federal which is why I am a Libertarian angry how the Tea Party has become hypocritical with smear tactics and strategies.

Food and water safety shouldn't even be considered for cuts. Just wondering, how many people died or suffered serious illness because Bush didn't want to regulate the industries responsible for keeping food and water safe. The kickbacks some of you expect to receive by deregulating industry, will cost LIVES! It's sickening to think how so many in the Congress care so little about life-- except unborn life. What happens to your "christian" ethics once they're born???

We already have too many food born outbreaks in this country without relaxing safety standards and testing. I want/demand clean, healthy, disease free food.

The only items that should be cut are defense, oil subsidies and end the Bush tax cuts and take the tax rates back to what they were under Clinton.
