Protect the families and homes of residents of Madison County, Nebraska

    1. Petition by

      Lisa Sock

The Helena Chemical Company is aiming to operate a commercial fertilizer manufacturing sales and storage facility in Madison County, Nebraska.

This plant could have devastating consequences for the air, water and land quality of residents in the area-- and as such, have a negative impact on the farming community, a major economic driver in the area. Further, the plant will have a negative effect on traffic, property values and road conditions.

The risks are too high. Help reject the permit for this plant, and protect our families and homes from its negative consequences.

They are wanting to build this basically in the backyard of where I grew up. Its a great place where alot of families new ones and ones I grew up with live out there. I dont want to see a chemical fertilizer facility to be put up polluting the air, the water including a creek that runs behind my parents house and brothers house and not to mention the added traffic. I grew up playing on those roads and riding my bike. Is it really worth all the chances of pollution and risk of someones kid getting hurt because of the added traffic. Find a more suitable place that is more industrial not someones backyard!!!

This facility will be practically in my backyard. It is not that the community of Warnerville does not want it, we just don't want it in our front and back yards; however, we would much rather support a local company than one that is Japanese owned. My husband and I just built our house in December, had we known this was going up we would have never invested all the money and time into making this our life, our home. Government is by the people and for the people, I hope that the people of Warnerville have a voice that is heard to protect all of the people of Madison County in denying the setback change from 1,320 feet to 300 feet.

Although we do need industry in the area, this needs to be in a commercial location.

We MUST protect our water above all things. Without it we are finished.
