Protect family farmers with Fair Farm Rules!

Unfair and discriminatory practices by meat industry giants have been squeezing independent farmers and ranchers out of business at an alarming rate.

But after decades of failure to enforce antitrust legislation against Big Meat, the 2008 Farm bill required the U.S. Department of Agriculture to enact and enforce Fair Farm Rules.

Now, the rules have been written, but USDA hasn't finalized them yet. And meat industry giants have been putting enormous pressure on Secretary Vilsack and the Obama Administration to weaken these rules that would, for the first time, provide fair market protections for small and midsize farmers.

Tell Sec. Vilsack and Pres. Obama: Save our family farmers. Enact Fair Farm Rules!

Tom Vilsack, Secretary, U.S. Department of Agriculture
Access to healthy food requires the success of independent family farms. I strongly encourage USDA to finish and implement the proposed Fair Farm Rule to protect independent farmers and ranchers from unfair practices of giant meat packing companies.

We want to be able to BUY LOCALLY. To do this, we need to keep our small and midsize farmers operational. I live in a small town in OREGON where crops are grown and livestock are raised. Please help our family farmers to survive. ENACT FAIR FARM RULES!

It should be simple....we either support our US Family Farms or starve to death? How it sickens me to see our agriculture just continue to dwindle away and away and away.... How is it that we continue to let Government dictate and rule where we get our oil, our clothes and our food. Agriculture in America is the next dying resource thanks to extremist and greedy politics. I took a drive across the our wonderful land and it saddens me on how we no longer have much cotton in our fields and see signs for closed family farms? It sickens me on how we have to get our produce and most groceries exported from Foreign lands? How people in American can be still asleep and never wonder...if we had a national crisis would the countries that we support and give aid too will return the favor? Mmmmmmm...I think not....Yet we give crap to our neighbor who decided to sustainably grow his own garden in his sidewalk? Seriously....what has happened here... :(

      Subsidizing corporate agriculture isn't fair.
