Charge Detroit Animal Control with Contempt of Court for Killing Ace

Detroit Animal Control was ordered by a judge of the Wayne County Circuit Court to refrain from destroying the starved, abandoned pit bull, dubbed 'Ace,' found in a Detroit Ace Hardware store on November 4th. Detroit Animal Control put Ace down anyway. We the signers of this petition ask that the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office charge Detroit Animal Control with contempt of court for their deliberate disregard of the order to keep Ace alive.

I am simply overwhelmed by the outpouring of support for this humble petition, reaching 1,000 signatures in less than 2 days - thank you all so very much for signing and sharing, with your help we will see Detroit Animal Control meet some small, inadequate justice for what they did to Ace, and all the other pit bulls and otherwise completely adoptable dogs they destroy needlessly for their own gratification!

I hope everyone can view this link - it is to a Facebook photo album, regarding a stray pit bull who was found last night in honor of Ace. Poor Ace may be gone, but his little ripple is going to become a tidal wave, with your help and the help of other caring individuals willing do whatever they can to help save animals in need, and to fight to change a corrupt system!

I just have to say I am touched by the amazing show of support for this issue, from all you lovely people all over the world. So first, thank you!! Second, as enraged as we all are at the flagrant disregard for the law displayed by Detroit Animal Control, its operators and those who used their power to directly flout the order by the gracious judge of Wayne County Circuit Court, in order to ensure that Ace was destroyed, we need to remember to keep our comments to/about these people as civil as possible: it is easy to pass off emotional outbursts as the product of hysteria (though it be truly the product of righteous indignation), but much more difficult to ignore calmly stated, respectful objections to this atrocity - even if we don't feel they deserve our respect, we can show that our anger at their abuse of authority is reasonable and justified if we maintain our civility. Again, thank you all so much - even if our target refuses to take action, the global outrage will be heard!

This issue is gaining international attention, as can be seen by the signatures coming from outside the U.S. - thank you, to everyone who has signed and shared so far. The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office will at the very least be made aware of the global outrage the actions of Detroit City Mayor Dave Bing, Detroit Animal Control director Harry Ward, head of the Department of Health Loretta Davis, and head of the Department of Environmental Safety Bruce King, have incited.

Such blatant, mindless disregard for the law.

I hope all who are responsible for this act have their lives turned upside down and are never the same again.
