Release Shaker Aamer and Let Him Return Home

    1. Petition by

      Free Shaker Aamer

He's been held in Guantánamo for years. Like other inmates, he faces no charges. He's been "cleared for release to Saudi Arabia", but that's not what he wants. He wants to go home to his family in the United Kingdom. As citizens of the world, we demand that Shaker Aamer be released and allowed to return to his family in the UK. The safety of the free Shaker Aamer, his family, and others around him should be protected. After living in an unimaginable hell for so many years, let this man go free and see his child that he's never met (was born the day Shaker was transferred to Guantánamo). No more solitary confinemnt. No more abuse. Let him go back to his family. We will achieve this goal through peaceful means. According to Amnesty International, "Indefinite detention is a human rights violation: the US must either charge Aamer with a crime or release him." If he isn't going to be charged with anything, then he should be free to go home. Thank you.

To:
President of the United States
Since Shaker Aamer faces no charges, release him and let him return to his family in the United Kingdom. Protect his safety, his family's safety, and the safety of those around the freed Mr. Aamer. Thank you

Sincerely,

This should be important to every person with an ounce of humanity. There are reasons we have established laws, so for a government to blatantly break them, and continue to break them, is despicable. Let this poor man go home.

No crime, no charge, cleared for release, why on earth isn't he back at home with his British family where he belongs.

For too many years this man, who has never been found guilty of any crime, has suffered abuse, torture and deprivation, particularly that of not being with his family and seeing his son, whom he's never met. Shut down the abomination that is Guantanamo Bay detention centre.
