President Obama: Send immediate aid to Pakistan flood victims

    1. Sponsored by

      Mercy Corps

After three months of monsoon rains, Pakistanis are facing a second year of catastrophic flooding.

Over 5 million people are in urgent need of clean water, food, shelter, and medical assistance – and these desperately needed supplies are already running out.

We need to provide immediate relief for the thousands of Pakistani children and families suffering in the aftermath of the floods. Call on President Obama today, and tell him to commit funding to the UN Pakistan disaster relief effort.

I am blasting through old email before I get a move on today. Almost 60% of the world's population is in Asia--with Africa, Europe, and the Americas comprising about 10% each--and 6 of the world's 10 largest countries are in Asia. Together, the 6 largest Asian countries--China, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Japan--supply almost 43% of the world's population (to say nothing of the historic role of Asian peoples populating the Americas by crossing the Bering Strait and sailing canoes across the Pacific Ocean). While this is the first I've heard of catastrophic flooding in Pakistan, I sign this petition in acknowledgment of the above.
