Dear President Obama,

This is an appeal to you to stand up for the rights of the people. I see the country which stood as an inspiration to the world for what democracy is all about now brutally attacking its citizens’ fundamental rights. The Rights of Free Speech and Assembly are fundamental rights, and they are being violated repeatedly right here in this country.

I have faith in you, faith which says that you will ‘stand with the truth’ and will call off the police brutality going on all around the country where innocent people are being arrested, hurt, and denied their Constitutional rights.

“When injustice becomes law, then Rebellion becomes duty.”
- Thomas Jefferson

"Whenever there is decay of righteousness O! Bharatha
And a rise of unrighteousness, then I manifest Myself!"

- Bhagvad Gita

Occupy Wall Street has manifested itself. “Dharma” means to do the right thing, and it changes with the world and times. “Dharma” means to stand with the truth. People have been robbed, and their trust has been shattered into millions of pieces.

I have never followed politics or politicians. Many of them make me sick with their actions, but you were the one who gave me confidence again, showing that there are still people who are true in their hearts and are in politics. I felt and still feel that you are a man of conscience. In situations of injustice, how can men of conscience remain silent? I appeal you to stand up, look into your heart and respond to the current situation in the country and in the world; there is no one more appropriate to stand up against this blatant violation of the Constitution, and we all stand with you.

Tell state officials and the police that they are breaching the oath they took by arresting peaceful people and violating their right to assembly, and that they MUST stop. I choose to stand with the truth and I WON’T back down; will you?

“To sin by silence when they should protest makes cowards of men.”
- Abraham Lincoln

I voted for you, wanting change, wanting a better world, wanting a renewal of HOPE. The Occupy movement is trying to do what you and the Congress have not done for us. WE want to be freed from the inequity that burdens the average American. WE are in slavery to the corporations and the banks and the elite. This country was never meant to be a nation of simply must be a better man and join in the fight for REAL CHANGE, REAL HOPE. I put my trust in you in 2008, cried when you were elected, particularly when you carried my home state of Ohio (I didn't think I would EVER see that and my heart swelled with pride that night). Please renew my faltering faith in your message. My ideals have not changed. When I attend Occupy rallies and meetings, I feel, for the first time in a VERY LONG TIME, that there are people who share my ideals, my morals, my hopes for the future. I have shed many, many tears in the past few months because the people of the Occupy movement share so much empathy with my personal plight, we are tired, we are poor, we are hurting, we are losing our homes, we are losing our freedoms, we are losing our faith in the American dream and many of us are losing hope. Please do the right thing, WE are your people.
