There is plenty of nutritious food in America to make sure every child grows up healthy and thrives. What’s missing is access to this food. If families don’t have reliable access to healthy, affordable food, they can’t possibly feed their children well. It doesn’t have to be this way.
In many parts of the country there are school breakfast programs that aren't being accessed by students. The school buses arrive after breakfast is over, and children don't have time to get any food before their classes begin.
When children don’t get the healthy food they need, they are less likely to succeed in school – focusing more on their empty stomachs than the lesson at hand. They’re more likely to exhibit behavioral, emotional and academic problems and tend to be more aggressive and anxious.
We need your help to tackle this large but solvable problem in our country. Together, we’re going to solve the problems with access and transportation. All children deserve healthly meals to help them grow and thrive.
